How to use Grade Calculator

Grade Calculator gives you a focused way to handle one small task quickly. Calculate a weighted average grade and letter grade from scores and weights. It is free to use, requires no login, and is built for quick checks when you need a practical result.

Useful for

  • Check everyday numbers before making a purchase, quote, or budget decision.
  • Compare inputs quickly when you do not want to open a spreadsheet.
  • Verify math for work, school, invoices, ads, or personal planning.

Example

For example, use Grade Calculator to enter the values from a receipt, estimate, campaign report, or planning note, then copy the result into your document or message.

Good to know

Results are meant for quick planning and double-checking. For legal, tax, or financial decisions, review the numbers with a qualified professional.

How it works

The grade calculator computes a weighted average from multiple assignment scores and their percentage weights, then shows the corresponding letter grade.

Weighted average = sum of (grade × weight) / sum of weights.

Practical examples

  • Three assignments at 85% (weight 40), 92% (weight 35), and 78% (weight 25) give a weighted average of about 85.7% — a B.
  • Add or remove rows to match the number of graded items in a course.
  • Check what score is needed on a final to reach a target grade.

Common mistakes

  • Make sure weights add up to 100% for accurate results. If total weight is not 100%, the result is still correct as a weighted average but may not match a course syllabus.
  • Letter grade thresholds can vary by school. The default A/B/C/D/F scale shown here is common but not universal.

Questions

What if my weights do not add to 100%?

The calculator still gives an accurate weighted average. It divides by the total weight you enter.

Can I use this for GPA?

This calculates a weighted percentage average. GPA uses grade points (4.0 scale) and may have different rules.
